In case anyone missed it, Steve called up the AMA rookie and got the scoop on his MXoN plans. You can find the full interview on DMX.

His explanation makes sense, what is the deal with the Canadian team, Steve has always hinted to problems that continue to plague the team each year. Is it lack of funding? Poor organization? They have fast riders, they should put forth a better effort, they could probably do pretty well.

Wow, that's actually a huge can of worms. Let me see if I can condense it down.

Once upon a time the CMA was the governing MX body in Canada. They pretty much ruled the roost, organizing local races, the national series, SX events in the big cities, and of course the MXoN team.

At a certain point there was a lot of people not happy with the CMA (I'll stay out of that) so a guy by the name of Mark Stallybrass started the CMRC, and eventually they became the dominant force in Canadian MX. The CMA still exists, but for the most part they're only involved in the Toronto SX and the MXoN. You can read Steve's take on it in a post about an MXoN fundraiser we tried to do a couple of weeks ago.

It's a real shame, I think if there was ever a year for Canada to go to the international stage and do some serious damage, this was it. WAS. Now, it's not even clear if we'll send a team.

I thought his selection for GB wasn't final yet, but I guess it makes sense. Or not.

Apparently you're right, according to Moto Mag anyway. Who knows where this will end up? Maybe Deano and Conrad Black will have to start their own MX team.
