Yes, but they're promising something even bigger and better! (elephants and clowns???)

They are?

I thought the US Open had jumped the shark a few years ago and judging by the crowd, others did as well. Then they introduced amateurs and just like that, the arena was packed again. Then it started to lull again but to the promoters credit, they introduced some cool new twists like the one lap shootout, the mechanics race, the trifecta deal but the bottom line was that there were more than a few nights where the racing was really, really boring.

That's no ones fault, it just happens when not all the riders commit to the race. I know that if I paid top dollar for the tickets, I'd be pretty bummed and wondering if I got my monies worth. I'm sad to see it go because it was a ten min drive for me and the after race stuff was always fun but maybe it's time.

This new idea sounded super-cool to me, I was looking forward to it. Not sure what happened really.

They were going to build a tamer track and try really hard to get some top Euros over and have a SX of Nations with different teams. Kind of a cool idea.

That would have been cool, in a Larry Brooks interview, he mentioned how basic the tracks in the Mickey Thompson series were and how great the racing was. Someone needs to do some experimenting on that. Wonder why Feld doesn't do any offseason field testing of different track styles to see what could improve the racing and not just promoting the show, if the racing was good fans would come.

They (Feld) were supposed to hold a press conference last Friday to announce their plans and a probable change of venue.

I wish they would have done something like the MC Invitational, it was a cool event, format and track wise, just terrible timing on their part. What if they aligned Chad Reed's SuperX? last years US Open was on Oct. 9th and would have fit in perfectly with the 2010 schedule, (although that would mean a Chad Reed/ Feld Motorsports alignment), the only reason to do that is get Americans committed in the series and then they could follow it to Australia. Anyway losing an event isn't ever a good thing, the more moto the better, the more opportunities for TV time.
