Definitely. Think back about 10 years ago and you would be hard pressed to find an MX fatality. Its gone past coincidence now and really needs to be analysed in depth so steps can be taken to reduce the percentages.
Chest protectors only stop roost at best, neck braces are untested gimmicks and these cheaply made "K-Mart" helmets are still being sold. MX protection has not evolved with the sport.
On the plus side though, I bet if you asked someone: "Would you like your last 10 minutes on earth to be on a bike" they would vote "yes".
