Over on Vital..

There's a thread from DV talking about how there is no way that JS7 stays behind KW for 17 mins and there are more than a few people coming down on him for being a Dungey-hater. Then DV goes on and talks about how Dungey got a little lucky with the injuries from some of the top guys (JS, CR and RV) and then gets really roasted.
Thoughts on this? Is DV jealous? I tend to think he's just bench racing like all of us and I, for one, agree with him.

DV isn't a RD5 hater he is just a realist, there is a lot of truth to his statement and I think James race statistics speak for themselves. I think eyes will be opened and riders hearts will be crushed, when JS7 comes back. Having said that Dungey is the current champ and has tons of momentum going and he will definitely push to put it to Stewie, maybe he can force some errors from the speedster. Plus with Ryan's work ethic has probably watched all the tapes and grill RC on all the weaknesses of Stewart's, he will come prepared for the challenge. Dungey isn't one to just roll over and let Bubba's World take over. Either way it will be interesting and exciting. More importantly I was hoping Reed would be healthy so Bubba could lead at Unadilla, let Reed pass him, then JS7 pass him back it would feel like old times, and we as fans always appreciate a little nostalgia. Cant' wait till the last 4 races that's for sure.

DV's entitled to his opinion. With that being said, this is DV's actual tatt. He doesnt have the right to bust on Dungey.

And honestly, look at how many wins Dungey's posted in his 4 short years. How many championships does DV have on the mantle? And the kid's only 20 years old. I dont think he's getting the respect he deserves.

I agree that Dungey has had a consistent climb to the top step of the podium, but what I get from all this banter is that what is missing from the puzzle is the best of the best riders is not on the track and that is why fans even question Dungey's results. Plus you have to admit he is the clean cut kid, a hard worker, and keeps a low profile, not an exciting story, fans and press are always drawn to a good story, and Dungey's is pretty vanilla. But don't get me wrong I am a fan of RD5 he is doing great and I hope he is building his RC skills /tool bag because he is going to need it when the day comes and he starts on the line with Stewart. He has got to beat the Red Bull rider straight up, just as MC did to Stanton, RC to McGrath, Stewart to RC. When he wins against JS7 straight up the critics will be silenced.

My prediction is we'll see it happen Moto 2 at Unadilla.
If Stewart shows.
Yes, of course some Vital members have pretty simplistic views on things, many of them must be 15 or 16 y-o, but DV is definitely no "dungey-hater", just probably one of the best bench-racers out there. He's been on those tracks very recently, he raced at that level very recently, he is in that part of our World and is just saying out loud what some of the other riders are saying and one fact is no, JS7 has never raced Shorty, while RD does it at least 1 moto per weekend.
There is no doubt that Dungey is at the top of the sport right now, thanks to, like DV said, hard work, great ethic and attitude and talent. But like a few other champs in previous years, he had a little break from Miss Luck this season. This doesn't mean that he wouldn't have won the title, thanks to his consistency, but he is riding comfortable, he is right above the other guys (although the 35 sec lead at Millville Moto 2 was very RC-esque) enough not to ride on the edge. With RV and JS in the mix, he would have - maybe - been pushing a bit more and would have been on the edge more. The outcome of that battle is for fiction.
Do I believe that JS will battle right away for the lead, with Dungey, when he comes back. Yes. Do I believe JS is going to go 1-1 on all 4 races. Yes. But it's motocross, a dangerous sports and injuries have plagued our history. Like JS, like Carmichael, like JG, like IT, like RV, like 800, the 5 could get hurt, the #7 could get hurt again pushing to dominate too much.
But DV was actually pretty pragmatic and realist with his views, not a "hater" like some pre-puber called him on Vital.
Maybe Js7 should take notice of Dungey "allowing" Windham to lead for half a moto. If James were a little more patient through his career he would be unbeatable!
Dungey has shown patients all season. Even back in SX he would hang back and let Hilly, Stroupe, and others battle up front and then move in for the kill in the latter laps. Remember? I think he was simply riding smart. As soon as he got by KW he was lightening fast.
DV934 tells it like it is from a pro's view point. Did the injuries help RD? Of course they did. Should we think less of RD? Of course not.
Should we think less of DV934? Of course not.
no way is cobra jealous...the way he was always online, even when he was still active and on top of his game, he loves to bench bs just like the rest of us...does he wish he was still doin it? sure he does, but with the comments about js7 and rd5, he was just bein real...i give it up to him 4 that. have any of us ever seen stewie battle with shorty??? no way..if the 7 bike is on the gate and doesnt wad up..he wins. period

Maybe Dungey stays behind KW for a while to see if he can pick up a thing or two. He knows the second moto determines the OA and that he's a s fit as anybody to get it done. KW isn't in the points race so why not let the race come to you?
Call it luck or whatever you want to. Dungey was on the same track with all of those guys when they got hurt. He gave Stewart all he could handle at A1. Maybe it caught Stewart a little off guard, he panics a little in Phoenix and ended his season. We'll never know. Dungey had a good opportunity to injure himself in (I think) San Fran when he cross-rutted and had to bail off. Shit happens in this sport. RD was giving Villopoto all he could handle in St. Louis, made RV ride a little over his head, makes a mistake and down he went. Luck or pressure? Again, we'll never know.
Luck or not. Ryan Dungey is good, fast and learning quickly how to be unbeatable. I don't think Stewart is going to have a cakewalk with it when/if he comes in to the Nationals.
