Further to JB's interview last night during the Pulpmx Show, I still think that some rib/thorax protection (not talking about any thin plastic roost-deflector) can always protect better than just a jersey. Of course it changes the feeling on the bike as the rider has to adapt to wearing something but it can only be better. Same for the spine protectors.
If not for their health, it would definitely be better for their bank accounts as it extends their riding seasons.

I agree and I know that I wasn't an AMA pro license carrying rider, but roost protectors do help despite what riders say, and your right something is better than a jersey, I promise it is just the "cool" factor because that was the case in the early 90's Bradshaw, MC, Stanton had a lot to do with that new style. Wardy, Johnson, Cooper etc all wore roost deflectors of some sort. You would think that not wanting an injury and taking a run at a championship would superseed the need to look hip. Additionally if you told your gear sponsor that PS everything you make in the protection dept. suck, they would be more than happy to have a top rider help develop something.
